Mid Sussex Labour members take to the streets to warn about the cost of living crisis

This week, a team of local volunteers from Mid Sussex Labour have been pounding the pavements of Haywards Heath, delivering leaflets and meeting residents, and hearing and talking about how the cost of living crisis is affecting people locally.

Pam Haigh, Chair of Mid Sussex Labour said:

“This week, a team of local Labour members are out on the streets of Haywards Heath, delivering leaflets and speaking to residents. We’re hearing how worried people are about the cost of living crisis and the looming ‘Tory Tax Bombshell’.

“We’re entering a really difficult time for lots of families. People are seeing their gas bills and food bills soaring. And now, from April, the government has chosen to hit people with an increase in national insurance tax too. People all over the country, and in Mid Sussex, are having to make really tough decisions about how they can afford to heat their homes and to feed themselves – and they are simply not being helped by this Conservative government.

“Labour is calling on the government to abolish VAT on domestic energy bills to help people get through the winter and to scrap the National Insurance taxi hike, which couldn’t come at a worse time.”

Haywards Heath residents might spot the team of local volunteers out and about between 29 January and Sunday 6 February.
